Sports facilities of Edinburgh’s George Watson’s College

Smith Scott Mullan Associates, a Scottish architectural practice, has commenced comprehensive restructuring of the existing sports facilities at George Watson’s College in Edinburgh, Scotland. The restructuring and remodelling process will include refurbishment of an existing 1930’s building and swimming pool. New circulation and gym facilities will also be added. Planned to be delivered in different phases, the project will see creation of a multipurpose sports hall and viewing gallery designed to be benefited from extensive natural light. The facility will feature an Olympic standard sprung sports floor. The new sports hall will be equipped with fitness rooms, multi-use gyms, refurbished swimming pool and ‘hub’ area with views of the pool. Future phases of the scheme include construction of a rooftop gymnasium which will afford views over the Pentland Hills.
