The Static Quarry by Ikimono Architects
The contrasting nature of public and private spaces intertwine within the Static Quarry. Ikimono Architects developed this structure out of reinforced concrete that creates a community within a building of eight households. Concealment is portrayed in the realms of this solid structure as residents enjoy the concrete walls that surround them in their abodes of peace. A sanctuary of interaction is created within the courtyard that lies in its center. Each resident is pleasured with a blissful taste of the serene environment outside as every apartment includes a window that opens up to the courtyard. This invitation to the communal part of the Static Quarry is a connection that interlaces the private quarters of this home yet also accepts the sense of solitude residing in each apartment.
