Gates Foundation Aids Solar Toilet Development

Unbelievable that Bill Gates and Melinda Gates Foundation is involved in the development of the toilet of the future.The foundation high lights a sobering fact that 40 percent of the world or 2.4 billion people lack clean sanitation facilities. Gates, pledging to eradicate world poverty, has awarded $100,000 to the California Institute of Technology,that provided a working version of a futuristic toilet. The toilet was transformed into a self-contained solar unit capable of recycling water and breaking down the waste into renewable energy. The prototype breaks down human waste through a solar-powered reactor converting it into usable hydrogen gas,for use at night.
