Residence in Hikone II by Koji Okumura

Residence in Hikone II is a minimalist house located in Shiga, Japan, designed by Koji Okumura. The clients wanted a renovation in which the space would be more open and illuminated. As a result, the focal point of the house became the Japanese-room, which includes two walls that are composed of sliding door partitions. The Japanese-room is adjacent the largest windows within the home, thus providing the most light during the day. The designers also wanted to provide the option of leaving the room closed when needed.
