Tea House by Mimi Jung

Tea House is a minimal environment by Los Angeles-based designer Mimi Jung. Though typically infused with religious and cultural affiliations, Mimi Jungs modern interpretation of a tea house focuses on the power of solace and introspection. By manipulating the tea houses semi-permeable revolving walls, the viewer can step from the outside to the houses hidden, isolated interior. The need to physically push and pull the houses concentric walls highlights the tension between polar opposites internal and external experience whose existence depends on their contrast with one another. The single absolute in Jungs shifting structure is a low wooden table in the centre, inviting the occupant to sit for a moment in solitude and create a ritual of their own.
